It’s my favorite time of year! Football season is back again for another great few months of non-stop football. We technically already started with the Hall of Fame game in Canton, OH this past weekend with the Las Vegas Raiders beating the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-11 in a pretty one-sided game. These kind of results are to be expected since it’s the preseason but I am just glad football is finally back again. In terms of what I am wanting to see out of this first week I would say that if Russell Wilson ends up playing in the Bronco’s first game of the season against my Cowboys that I would enjoy seeing what he is capable of.
All in all I am excited for this season to get started because it seems like there have been quite a bit of large moves in the offseason. Tom Brady retired, then unretired which means you know he will be going to the Super Bowl. Gronkowski retired, then stayed retired but Tom Brady also now has Julio Jones on his roster which makes the Bucs one of the most dangerous teams going into the season. Deshaun Watson was with the Houston Texans until he had some off the field issues and was traded to the Cleveland Browns. Even though the Browns were tracking to the potential law suits that awaited Watson, they chose to snatch him up for:
*2022 Draft – First Round, Fourth Round
*2023 Draft – First Round, Third Round
*2024 Draft – First Round, Fourth Round
So they give up the near future of draft picks for a guy who was likely going to be suspended. They also gave him a truck load of cash (5-year $230 Million guaranteed even if he gets suspended) and just like that the Texans are in rebuild mode once again. It makes me feel good because the Texans are an in-state rival of the Cowboys but it also makes me sad to see the players running rough shot over the league. Is Watson really worth all of that money? Considering he is being suspended for at least the first 6 games of the season, I don’t think we will have this answer until at least year 3 at this point.
With all of the games this week coming on the NFL Network it will make it hard for some of you to watch the games. Don’t worry as we will have all of the recap videos on our site from the biggest games of the week soon enough. If you don’t get to watch it live, at least you will be able to watch each game in under 15 minutes. Here is the TV Schedule for Week 1 of the 2022 NFL Preseason:
