North Carolina’s last loss was January 12th when they were destroyed by Louisville 83-62. Today was their day of reckoning. Luke Maye led the Tarheels in both points (20 points) and rebounds (11 rebounds). The victory keeps the Heels rolling through their ACC schedule. Late in the first half the Tarheels were up by 19 but the Cardinals were able to cut that lead to 9 points by the middle of the second half but never came closer than that. The #9 North Carolina Tarheels ended up winning the game by 10 points with a final score of 79-69.
Their schedule will not get any easier with four of their next six opponents are top 25 teams. They have NC State and Virginia at home before going to Duke for their first match up of the season on February 20th. This will be their first major test to see how they are going fare once the ACC tournament rolls around.
